Terrazzo Bellavista

 Terrazzo Bellavista, dove si gode il più bel panorama del Castello, con la possibilità di vedere tutta la valle del fiume S. Leonardo, il lago artificiale Rosamarina, Capo Zafferano, Monte Cane e sulla sinistra la rocca di Vicari, altro punto strategico dell'Isola di rilevante importanza militare. Il Terrazzo Bellavista era, per i prigionieri, il punto dove raggiungevano il desiderio di guadagnare la propria libertà. Infatti si narra che di essi, condannati al patibolo, chiesero due lenzuola per coprire la propria nudità. Liberatisi con uno strattone dalle guardie, si buttarono giù nella speranza che il vento agevolasse l’apertura delle lenzuola, sistemate nei polsi e nelle caviglie, a guisa di paracadute. Il caso volle che uno si schiantasse sulla sottostante campagna del Pizzarrone, mentre l’altro, più fortunato, atterrasse sul Piano di Corte, illeso. Le guardie riuscirono però a catturare il fuggiasco che riportarono in prigione. Il Castellano, stupefatto di tanta audacia, decise di graziarlo. Un altro mistero che aleggia nelle stanze del Castello è uno spirito dalle sembianze di una bellissima monaca che, ad ogni plenilunio e allo scoccar della mezzanotte , spinta da una folata di vento, scende dal Castello fino alla torre di Pizzarrone, recando con sé una melagrana. La persona alla quale viene offerta, deve mangiarla con le mani legate dietro la schiena senza farne cadere un chicco. La prova, se superata, farebbe scoprire al fortunato un forziere pieno di un ricco tesoro.

Good view Terrace

Legend wants that under the two arches prisoners were tortured and hanged. As part of this legend it was said that two prisoners were about to be hanged. Since they were both naked they had asked as their last wish to have two sheets to cover themselves with before they died.

It was said that instead of covering themselves they tied the sheets to their wrists and ankles. Just before the execution they freed themselves and jumped over the near wall. The idea was to us the sheets as parachutes. It so happened that one crashed on the underlying

countryside of Pizzarrone, while the other more fortunate landed on the floor of the court unharmed.

The guards however were able to capture the fugitive and bring him back to jail. The lord of the castle amazed at such audacity decided to pardon him. Another mystery that hovers in the rooms of the castle is that of a the ghost of a beautiful nun who, at every full moon and at the stroke of midnight, she goes down from the castle to the tower of Pizzarrone taking a secret passage, in her hand she holds a pomegranate. The person, to whom it is offered, must eat it with their hands tied behind their backs and without making a seed fall.

Terrasse Bellevue

La terrasse Bellevue, où il y a le plus bel panorama du Château, en donnant la chance de voir toute la vallée du fleuve Saint Léonard, le lac artificiel Rosamarina, Capo Zafferano, Monte Cane et à gauche la forteresse de Vicari, un autre point stratégique de l' île de grande importance militaire. La terrasse Bellevue était, pour les prisonniers, le point où ils atteignaient leur désir de gagner leur propre liberté. En effet, on dit que deux prisonniers, condamnés à l'échafaud, demandèrent une paire de draps pour couvrir leur propre nudité. Ils se libérèrent des gardes d'une violente secousse et ils se jetèrent avec l’espoir que le vent eût facilité l'ouverture des draps, noués dans les poignets et dans les chevilles, comme un parachute. Le destin a voulu que l'un s’écrase au-dessous, sur la campagne Pizzarrone, et l'autre, eut plus de chance parce qu’il atterrit sur le Plan de Court, sains et saufs. Toutefois, les gardes réussirent à capturer et ramener à la prison le fugitif. Le Châtelain, émerveillé par une telle audace, décida de lui gracier. Un autre mystère, qui flotte dans les chambres du Château, c’est un fantôme ayant l’apparence d’une religieuse très belle qui descend du Château à la tour de Pizzarrone à chaque pleine lune et sur le coup de minuit, poussée par une rafale de vent et en emmenant une grenade. La personne à qui cette grenade est offerte doit manger avec les mains liées derrière le dos, sans en faire tomber aucun grain. Si la preuve est dépassée, elle permet de découvrir un coffre-fort plein d'un riche trésor.
